Beyond this statue
The Satoshi Monument in Prague from the Satoshi Gallery series is the first step. But the Czech community has bigger ambitions.
Prague deserves its own symbol
The Satoshi Gallery statue is a world-recognized work and we're proud it will stand in Prague. At the same time, we believe the Czech Republic — as one of the world's most significant bitcoin countries — has the potential to bring the world something original; something not created elsewhere and not available from a catalogue. That's why the community around Jednadvacet.org is working in parallel on Variant 2: an open competition for an original Czech Satoshi Monument.
What will the competition look like?
The competition will be announced together with the Foundation for Contemporary Art Prague (NSU), which will ensure its organization, transparency and expert assessment. NSU is a respected institution with long experience in public art. The goal is to find a work that:
- →is created specifically for the Czech and Prague context
- →reflects Bitcoin's values — decentralization, openness, individual freedom
- →holds up as a permanent public monument and as a work of art on an international scale
CZK 100,000 from the Jednadvacet.org reserves is allocated to prepare and run the competition, and the Board is actively seeking corporate partners to contribute another 100–200 thousand CZK.
An open-source gift to the world
If the competition produces a work worth realizing, Jednadvacet.org will take one more step: it will offer the complete documentation of the winning design to the world as open source. Any community anywhere in the world will be able to realize it themselves. The Czech Republic will thus contribute to the global bitcoin story not just with one statue — but with an idea the world can make its own.
